Default Useful commands for PvP?

Like RTS players, I expect that players would use their keyboard to kill stuff.

As a newbie, I would like to know what keys would be useful other than the usual 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 keys.

F1-4 for weapon swaps, x for 180 turn, z for looking behind you are a few more

My setup is like this.

Combination of wasd and clicking to move.

Skills: 12345 for skills 1-5, 6-7 I have on mouse 4 and 5. I use ` for skill 8.

Weapon sets: F1-F4 and on qerx.

Cancel: esc.

I think thats it.

1: 1
2: 2
3: 3
4: Left mouse
5: Right mouse
6: 4
7: 5
8: `

This looks like a good keybind.

But, Whats the purpose for each of the keybind? (Utility, Interrupts, spam skill, heal, Res sig, etc.)

since i know that tyris plays actually only war, watching your vids yes lol, 6 is your ias (flail/frenzy) 7 is your ims/cancel stance (enraging charge, rush) 8 is res.skill 1-5 are interupt, damage etc. correct me if i'm wrong

However i like to put either an interupt on either '1' or mouse 4-5, just to react faster

Its not what your post asks for, but /stuck is an awesome command that really should be bindable to a keystroke.

As far as interface goes, there are many different ways of doing it. But most importantly every key you press should be be effortless and require no hand movement. (yes those of us with piano hands have an advantage here)

I heard the best place to put your directional keys are efds, because there are more adjacent keys to bind for easier use.

Depends on how/if you can use the back of your hand for modifier keys shift/ctrl/alt.

Sense no make? You can still hit Shift/Alt/Ctrl easily, but there are 3 extra adjacent keys, so you don't need to use them.

Uh, I use the back of my palm, not my fingers to hit shift/ctr/alt, the part directly opposite where the first finger connects. So I lose 3 keys and gain 3 keys.

You can just as easily use your little finger for all three keys. Well, maybe not Alt, but you just make it a key you need less frequently.

Obviously the different keybindings (where you put them) is completely up to you, but from the top of my head, these are the keys you're going to want to have within reach at all times, or atleast the ones I have and use:

For calling:

-Push To Talk (This is my scroll button on my mouse)

-Movement keys
-Autorun
-Cancel Action
-Do it/Action (Spacebar for most)
-Skills 1 -> 8
-Target Nearest Item
-Target Next Item (Only in HA)
-Target nearest foe (For general applying pressure)
-Target next foe
-Target previous foe
-Drop Bundle (When flagging to dodge shard storms and other projectile snares, I occasionaly use this, but since I don't flag that much, I find myself slacking)

Monks may want to also assign the party member numbers to different keys, but the truth is that you'll sacrifice other keys by doing that. Since you're comming from an RTS, pinpoint aiming shouldn't be a problem anyways.
-Calling key (Control standard)
-Surpress Action (To not give away spikes)

No my setup goes

1: 1
2: 2
3: 3
4: 4
5: 5
6: Mouse 4 (Side button on my mouse) [IAS Skill]
7: Mouse 5 (Second Side Button on my mouse) [IMS Skill]
8: ` [Rez]

I primarily play frontline stuff like war so I put my stances on my mouse side buttons. so Flail/E-charge and Frenzy/Rush live over there.

I have various habits for example I always put bulls strike on 4 no matter what I'm running. (hammer/axe/sword etc)

I have 2 sets of weapon binds because I had the spare buttons and its easier to reach my second set of binds from wasd, especially my shieldset.

I select targets by manually looking at the field and clicking on them. I feel this is a good habit to get into because it promotes looking at the field not tabbing and staring at the UI.

Most things are just down to finding out what feels right for you, you have to give each setup a good while to try before changing again though so you at least get used to it.

Two things however i found i had to change that many do, i use mouse targetting largely so i have my alt button held down a lot of the time (i dunno how much it actually helps it's just what i'm used to).

As such, i obviously had to move weapon set off of F4 (found this one out pretty quick :P, i actually moved the lot since i sometimes missed keys and found F4).

Secondly had to get another cancel action off of escape, since Alt + Esc minimizes gw.

So i got a decent gaming mouse and put them all on there.

Also, i put clear target as escape and have the auto target items selected in options as it makes for very quick flag/relic pickups or swaps.
